Frequently Asked Questions

What is the International Expressive Arts Festival in Egypt and Online?

The Expressive Arts Festival in Egypt is an annual international gathering that brings together pioneers and emerging voices in the expressive arts alongside therapists, educators, artists, coaches, students, and seekers from around the world to celebrate creativity, healing, embodiment, and our shared humanity. More than a conference, it is a vibrant space for intercultural dialogue, artistic exchange, and collective imagination. Last year alone(2025), the festival welcomed participants and presenters from nearly 40 countries, creating a rich tapestry of cultures, perspectives, and practices. Rooted in the belief that creativity has the power to transcend borders and foster individual and collective transformation, the festival invites us to come home to ourselves, to one another, and to the living Earth, while weaving new possibilities for a more compassionate and interconnected world.

Who can attend the festival?

The festival is open to everyone. Whether you are a mental health professional, artist, educator, coach, student, or simply curious about the transformative power of the arts, you are warmly welcome.

Do I need previous experience in the arts?

No prior experience is required. Many workshops are designed to be accessible to beginners while also offering depth and inspiration for experienced practitioners.

Is the festival experiential?

Yes. The festival offers a rich blend of experiential workshops, inspiring talks, and panel discussions. Participants are invited to engage through movement, visual arts, writing, drama, music, storytelling, poetry, and other creative forms, with many presentations thoughtfully interwoven with hands-on experiences. This balance of learning and lived experience makes the festival meaningful for therapists, educators, artists, and students, while also offering anyone in the community a welcoming space for creativity, connection, personal growth, and self-discovery. Participation is always by invitation, and everyone is encouraged to honor their own pace and choices.

Will there be international presenters?

Yes. The festival hosts facilitators, therapists, artists, and educators from Egypt and around the world, creating opportunities for intercultural dialogue and creative exchange.

Is the festival a therapy event?

The festival offers creative, therapeutic, and transformative experiences through expressive arts, community art, and shared human connection. While many participants find the workshops and gatherings deeply meaningful and nourishing, the festival is primarily an educational and community-centered event designed to foster creativity, learning, dialogue, and collective well-being. It is not a substitute for psychotherapy, counseling, or medical treatment, but rather a space where art, community, and embodied experiences can support personal and collective growth.
